Myers-Briggs-Personality-Type-IndicatorUnderstanding People

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (M.B.T.I) is one the most widely used psychological instruments in the world today. It has tremendous application in workplace settings in improving personal effectiveness and in helping individuals understand their own preferences as well as the preferences of others.

The MBTI is based on the work of Carl Jung. Jungian psychology describes certain preferences that all healthy individuals will use. These preferences affect the way you and I focus our attention, take in information, arrive at decisions and orientate ourselves to our outside world. The variations and similarities that we prefer ultimately have an effect over all our dealings with the people we come in contact with and the people we ultimately work and live with.

By understanding these unconscious mental processes, we can begin to use them as personal management tools.

Personality Preferences

There are four dichotomous scales that describe these preferences:
  • E – Extroverts – who get their internal energy from others.
  • I – Intorverts – who get their internal energy from within.
  • S – Sensates – who take in information from the outside world primarily by their five senses.
  • N – Intuitives – who make connections with the outside world on intuition.
  • T – Thinkers – who make decisions based on logic.
  • F – Feelers – who make decisions based on feelings and values.
  • J – Judgers – who like to come to decisions quickly.
  • P – Perceivers – who like to explore the possibilities before reaching decisions.

We offer a highly interactive and effective one day workshop based in particular the MBTI application to the workplace and improving individual, team and organisation effectiveness.
